Waymo planning St. Louis rollout, will manually test cars starting this week

Waymo plans to bring its self-driving taxi program to St. Louis and has begun on-the-ground testing to map city streets and gather early data. As part of its expansion, the company hired four Missouri lobbyists from the Nexus Group — Rodney Boyd, Kate Casas, Brian Grace and Kelvin Simmons — to support its entry into the state. Waymo says Missouri law does not directly address autonomous vehicle operations, and lawmakers have introduced two bills for the upcoming session that would set conditions for fully driverless vehicles on public roads.
