About
Well-known and widely respected throughout Missouri government as one of its most sought after and accomplished lobbyists, Brian Grace has been popularly described as a man on a mission. Always polite, always professional, always with his eye on the ball, that mission started when he was growing up in Jefferson City, captivated by the imposing shadow cast by the Missouri State Capitol building and the high-stakes decisions that are made there.
At a young age, Brian made it his mission to work in the Capitol and play an integral role in the legislative process. In the years since, the benchmarks got higher, the scope expanded, and the mission became securing success for some of the country’s largest companies, among a vast array of other clients. Brian has earned a reputation for consistently achieving that mission, often exceeding expectations.
Brian’s career trajectory gives him a unique advantage few lobbyists possess. He knows the legislative process from the inside out. His understanding of the innerworkings of state government started on the ground floor at the age of 19. While attending the University of Missouri, he secured an internship with a Jefferson City lobbying firm, where for three years he benefited from a masterclass on the intricacies of the legislative process. Brian excelled in this fast-paced environment and learned that in this business—where one misplaced comma can completely change the intent of a legislative bill and cost a client millions—you live or die on details.
Following graduation, Brian went to work on Governor Matt Blunt’s successful gubernatorial campaign. He then took a job in the executive branch, where he worked as legislative director for the Department of Economic Development, representing the Department in the legislature as well as with outside interests. This early experience provides Brian with an expert lens through which to develop custom-tailored strategies and expert counsel for his clients, leveraging his firsthand knowledge of how things work on the other side of the table.
Brian’s deep-rooted understanding of the state’s political landscape, coupled with his hands-on experience in both government and lobbying, makes him an invaluable asset to his clients. A founding partner of Missouri lobbying firm Nexus Group, he specializes in quarterbacking large, complex lobbying initiatives that cross all facets of the legislative and executive branches. He has niche expertise in the creation and implementation of tax incentive programs for business development, job creation, and infrastructure development.
A competitive cyclist, Brian puts the same sweat equity into securing victories for his clients as he does his athletic pursuits. He is also a cancer survivor who now devotes much of his personal time to raising awareness and funding for cancer research.
Brian lives in Columbia, Mo., with his wife and three daughters.
